Minutes of the General Meeting

January 14th, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by Commodore Jim Barker Jr. presiding. The pledge of Allegiance was recited. The roll was taken with all Board members present.

Treasurers Report: Guarinos report was the same as at the board meeting, however he added that the year end losses were not excessive given the clubs repair of the boat lift. Three members were dropped from membership for either nonpayment or partial payment on their accounts . They are the same members that were reported at the monthly board meeting.

Secretarys Report: Dressler reported that he and ORiordan were in the process of submitting an amended application for change of officers on our liquors license as required by The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.

Docks and Grounds Report: Nelson reported that there would be two Acme days coming up and stressed the need for participation from the membership, January 26th, and February 2nd, 2008. He then reminded members of the rules that require all members who have boats in the club, to have current registrations on file with the Dockmaster, Del Dickerhoof. Additionally, any member selling a boat must report that to the Dockmaster.

Plannings Report: Decker spoke of the two upcoming parties, The Super Bowl Party, February 3rd, and The Daytona 500 Party, February 17th,, 2008. EJ Schinski, will be accepting donations for the cost of the crawfish boil, for the Super Bowl Party, even though it is a covered dish event.

Memberships Report: Inglima had Henry Fanfan, and Kenneth Harrison introduced to the membership for the first time, and three people were reintroduced and voted into the club, Robin Bynaker, Dan and Douglas Bonnocore. The Secretary then administered their Membership Pledge.

Socials Report: Kresge scheduled a meeting for all bartenders and any one who wishes to tend bar for February 7th , at 7:30pm . Additionally, he requested help for Joe Nobles who runs the pit. Any member who can cook, or is willing to learn is invited. Kresge has` also arranged a continuing Acme starting immediately for the second Saturday of every month for the bar and club house, many tasks need to be done, general maintence, rotation of stock, and cleaning. These jobs are required for the operation of the club house and are the responsibility of the membership.

Vice Commodores Report: ORiordan stressed the need for donations of any products such as a signed footballs etc. to be auctioned off at the Super Bowl Party for this years charity. Last years 50/50 at The SuperBowl Party raised over $300.00.

Commodores Report: Barker discussed the need to support an event that Rick Shaw was running at the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society that will be held February 2nd, which will be an oldies Night, featuring a dinner dance and a classic car show that will benefit, Help, a Childrens charity. Even though it is not a club sponsored event, he felt the need to support it because of the LSBCs history of supporting children and the significance of the Historical Society. The Commodore then appointed Bill Muller the new Sgt. Of Arms. The 50/50 collected $116.00 that was won by Gary Maijevich, who donated $26.00 to the charity to be named next month. The Commodore than opened the meeting up to the membership for The Good of The Order. A motion was made to donate all monies that are uncollected form the monthly fishing event to the charity. The motion was seconded and carried. Larry Logvin requested that we give special recognition to Joe Nobles and his wife Kathy for their dedication hard work , and long hours cooking and running the pit. A question was posed from Michele Barry, concerning the program used to print out the budget for the club. Guarino stated that the program used is the same one that has been used in the past. The monthly fishing tournment was announced with 1st place going to EJ Schinski with a 24.5 lb Wahoo, 2nd Place to Joe Samar with a 13.5 lb Dolphin and 3rd Place going to Franz Armstrong with an 11 lb King Fish. The commodore concluded the meeting by reminding the members that there is a no smoking rule in place in the club house 3hrs. before any sponsored club event and asked for everyones cooperation. A motion was made to adjourn that was seconded and carried.
