Minutes of the General Meeting
February 11th, 2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:30p by Commodore Jim Barker residing. The pledge of Allegiance was recited. The roll was taken with all Board members present.
Old Business
Treasurers Report:
Guarino’s report regarding profit and loss for the month of January was the same as the report to the board on January 4th, 2008, as well as those members resigning in good standing. One member, Martin Byrdal was dropped from membership for non-payment. The monthly invoices were than passed to the commodore to approve for payment, pursuant to the board’s new procedure to announce and pay bills at the board meeting or the general meeting. The exception will be bills that are reoccurring expenses such as water, electric, etc., that will be paid by a electronic funds transfer or a bank debit.
Docks and Grounds Report:
Nelson reported a very busy month of working Acme and he planned the next Acme for Saturday, March 1st, starting at 8:00am.
Planning’s Report:
Terry Decker reported that the rooms were selling out fast for the Dingy run at Matanzas in Fort Meyers beach and the room rate is $74.00 a night.
Social’s Report:
Charles Kresge reported that the Super Bowl party was a success. He had a meeting for Bar Tenders that was held February 7th, to discuss procedures and review club rules in serving members. The Daytona 500 party is not going to be a club sponsored event, however, everyone is welcome to come down watch the race, and bring their own food , the clean up of the club house will be the responsibility of those members present. The Waterway Clean up is scheduled for March 8th, The regular monthly Acme has begun for work in the Club house, the kitchen, and the Bar, which is the 2nd Saturday of every month.
Vice Commodore’s Report:
O’Riordan thanked everyone for coming out for the Super Bowl Party and said that $370.00 was raised for the charity. He gave special recognition to Barbara and Jerry Estep for their special contribution to the club by cooking the Crawfish. He further thanked several members for helping to set up the club and adding the preparation for the event, Nick and Christa Nikiforos , along with Jeff Wheeler, Mike Jaramillo and EJ Schinski. Mary Yaello generously donated a hand held vhf radio that was auctioned for the charity, and it raised $70.00. Donald Ewing was thanked for his contribution of flowers.
New Business
Membership’s Report:
Inglima had David Hill, Neil Hughes, Ron DeWillers and Fred Baldassaro introduced to the membership for the first time, and two people were reintroduced and voted into the club, Henry Fanfan, and Kenneth Harrison. The Secretary than administered their Membership Pledge.
Vice Commodor’s Report:
O’Riordan stated that this years kids Cane Pole Tournament will be named, “The Wayne Kabbes Kids Cane Pole Tournment”, in honor of one our beloved member that passed away last year. Wayne always worked Acme, he always remembered your name, and he worked with the tournament in past years. The charity committee met and chose Hospice of South Florida to be this years charity. Lastly, the Vice Commodore appealed to the membership concerning people wanting to donate a boat to consider donating it to the club or our chosen charity.
Commodore’s Report:
Barker presented our past Commodor George Prochaska with a plaque recognizing his special contribution to the club as Commodore the past two years. Michael Jaramillo donated a cellular phone, as a result of the board approving a yearly prepaid plan to be utilized by membership.
Kresge announced that Scott Dressler has been chosen as this years director of The Dad’s Dolphin Day Tournment, along with a committee including EJ Schinski, Ben DeCook, Daniel Boehmer, Kevin O’Riordan and himself. Anyone that would like to help with the tournament could contact any of the committee members.
The monthly expenses were than paid after being reviewed by the Commodore. Checks were issued to Joe Knobles $191.54 for food purchases, Petty Cash reimbursments were $384.03, Amera Gas, $147.16, Atlantic pump and Equipment, $976.07 for repair of the gas pump, and $25.19 to Carl Nelson for Supply Reimbursment.
This months fishing tournament went to Mike Pauciello for a 14lb Wahoo. The Charity raffle raised $91.00 and Tommy Chung had the winning ticket and donated the prize back to the charity. This Months 50/50 of $134.00 was won by James Mayors. A motion was made to adjourn that was seconded and carried.
